Flaxseed oil (often called “linseed oil”) is produced from the pressed flax seeds. Fish oil is made using the fish tissues. Some types of fish oil can also be derived from the fish liver. Both fish oil and flaxseed oil are available in the form of supplements. Many people use these oils, and they are both known for being beneficial.

Both flaxseed oil and fish oil are high in omega 3 fatty acids. However, both docosahexaenoic acid and eicosapentaenoic acid are found in fish oil, while flaxseed oil only contains ALA (alpha-linolenic acid). As you can see, fish oil has more nutrients, compared to flaxseed oil.

Flaxseed Oil:

Flaxseed oil will become dry and hard as soon as you expose it to air. This oil contains a lot of esters, and once they get exposed to the oxygen, the polymerization will take place and the oil will become hardened. Thanks to this quality, flaxseed oil is widely used for various purposes. We will mention some of the benefits of this oil.

It a natural supplement, available in almost any drug store. Being high in omega 3 fatty acids, this oil can be very helpful in dealing with some cardiovascular problems. It is used in dealing with hypotension, constipation, certain skin problems, etc.

It is important to say that flaxseed oil can have certain side effects. It is believed to be carcinogenic, so you must not use it in high doses. Allergic reactions are possible, too. Before you start using this oil, you need to talk to your doctor first.

Fish Oil:

Fish oil contains large amounts of omega-three fatty acids. It also contains DHA and EPA. The fish species that have high levels of omega 3 include tuna, salmon, herring, and mackerel.

This oil is available in the form of supplements, and many people use it. It is considered very beneficial. Let us learn more about fish oil. According to some experts, this oil can significantly reduce the risk of some cancers. It is great for the immune system and for brain functioning.

Some types of fish oil can cause certain side effects. For example, certain species of fish can also contain mercury and heavy metals. These elements are considered harmful.
